Silver Falls marks its 75th year  |  JULY 23, 2008

Today marks the diamond anniversary of one of Oregon's greatest treasures – Silver Falls State Park. Just an hour's drive from Portland, it's a favorite spot with hikers, where a scenic trail takes you on a walk behind a waterfall.

The area was primarily a logging district in the early 1900's, home of the Silver Falls Timber Company as featured in my screenplay, BILLY THE HAM ACTOR. It was here, in 1922, that a young Clark Gable worked loading lumber.

Silver Falls has been the setting for various films through the years, including THE HUNTED, JUST BEFORE DAWN, and this year's TWILIGHT. It is location #10001187 in the database at the Oregon Governor's Office of Film & Television.
